CLARKESVILLE - Morris Harrison, Marine Engine Technology Instructor at North Georgia Technical College (NGTC), has been nominated by his peers to compete for the annual Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Education.<br />

Morris began his career with North Georgia Tech in November, 1985, as the Small Engine and Marine Engine Mechanics Instructor. Through the years, Harrison has witnessed many changes to the school. From the change of focus from Small Engine Repair to solely Marine Engine, he is keeping up with the fast pace of technological advances. "My students are prepared for entry into the industry because I stay in touch with the businesses in the industry on a continual basis."<br />

The Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction has been an ongoing statewide event since 1991, and is designed to recognize technical college instructors who make significant contributions to technical education through innovation and leadership in their fields. <br />
<br />
Three other instructors have also been nominated for this 2013 award including Chris Bladowski in Culinary Arts, Holly Free in Health Sciences, and Leslie McFarlin in Mathematics.<br />

Morris and his wife Jennie live in Cornelia. He has a son, Mitchell, daughter and son-in-law Lindsey and Nathan Holt, and step-daughters Kristie Harper and Kellie Stollenmaier.<br />
