ROSWELL -- The East Hall girls volleyball team is just one win from advancing to its first-ever state tournament.
The Lady Vikings rebounded from a loss to West Hall in the Area 5-AAA Tournament to beat Cross Keys for their first-ever area tournament win.
East Hall (29-13) opened the tournament losing to West Hall in straight sets 25-18, 26-24 but finished the first day of the tournament with a 25-3, 25-11 thumping of Cross Keys to stay alive.
Brittney Campbell had 25 points on serve with 10 aces. She also had 11 digs, three kills, and 30 assists to lead East Hall. Emily Hoggard had 10 kills and 4 digs and Kara Hix had seven aces, four assists and 28 digs for the Lady Vikings.
Hix now has 741 digs on the season, breaking the old state record set in 2004. TT Shelton had three kills and 8 digs.
Tarryn Long had 18 kills, two assists and 16 digs, Emily Roberts had two assists, two blocks and four kills and Allison Segars had three kills for East Hall.
The Lady Vikings next will play in the semifinals of the loser's bracket against North Hall at Buford on Thursday night. The winner will advance to the state tournament.
