TALLULAH FALLS - Two Hollywood superstars are in the North Georgia mountains, where they began filming scenes for the action-packed thriller "Killing Season" Monday.
Pam Thomspon with the Rabun County Convention and Visitors Bureau said Robert De Niro and John Travolta are filming the movie at Tallulah Gorge and Black Rock Mountain State Park.
"That's where the cabin scenes will be filmed and some of the chase scenes," she said.
Thompson said De Niro will play an American military veteran living in a remote cabin in the Appalachian Mountains. She said De Niro's character strikes up a friendship with Travolta, who pretends to be a European tourist but is really a former Serbian soldier seeking revenge.
Thompson said the director of the movie chose to film in the area because he liked the setting of another famous film set in North Georgia, "Deliverance."
She said both actors, especially Travolta, have made quite an impression on the locals.
"John Travolta has been awesome," Thompson said. "He's been going out to the local restaurants and eating and mingling with the locals and having his picture taken."
She said the movie has also brought an economic boost to the area as the actors and crew booked over 100 hotel rooms.
She said filming will continue for the next couple of weeks.
