GAINESVILLE - A 30-year veteran with the Hall County Sheriff's office now will run for the department's top job, according to a campaign website.
The site says Gerald Couch is set to kick off his sheriff's campaign this Friday at the Northeast Georgia History Center in Gainesville.
Couch most recently served as the assistant chief for Gainesville city police and resigned from the Gainesville Police Department on December 29. He had served in the position since April 2011.
At the time, Gainesville Police Chief Brian Kelly said only that Couch would be pursuing other professional endeavors.
