Softball: Shinall leads No. 6 Jackson County over East Jackson

JEFFERSON -- Class AA No. 6 Jackson County won a thrilling pitchers' duel 2-0 over East Jackson Tuesday in a crucial Region 8B-AA battle.

The Lady Panthers' Haley Shinall and East Jackson's Rebecca Turner both went the distance but Jackson County's Madison Whitmire had one hit and one RBI to help move the Lady Panthers one game ahead of North Oconee with two games left in the regular season.

The two teams will meet Thursday in a battle for first place.

Shinall tossed a complete game allowing just two hits while fanning six. Alyssa Dasher, Ashleigh Lance, and Shinall each had one hit for Jackson County.
