LAWRENCEVILLE - The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that revenues from Gwinnett County's baseball stadium have been lower than projected and county officials are planning to dip into other sources to pay off the cost of building it.
The county spent $64 million to build the 10,427-seat stadium, which opened in 2009 and is home to the Gwinnett Braves, the Atlanta Braves' top minor league team.
The newspaper reports that in 2009 the team drew an average of 5,858 fans a game. The average was 4,818 last year and is 5,084 this year.
The county gets $1 for every ticket sold and half the net parking proceeds, which go toward repaying $33 million borrowed to build the stadium.
The newspaper reports the county plans to use hotel-motel tax revenue to make debt payments.
