Softball: Jefferson rallies to beat No. 4 North Oconee

JEFFERSON -- Cason Anderson doubled in Jordyn Whitfield in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Jefferson a thrilling 3-2 win over Class AA fourth-ranked North Oconee Thursday in Region 8B-AA action.

Anderson's one-out hit capped a rally from 2-0 down in the first inning for the Lady Dragons (6-10, 4-1 in subregion).

The win was the third straight for Jefferson, which moved into second place in the standings behind Jackson County.

Savannah Snapp earned the win for Jefferson holding the Lady Titans (8-3-1, 3-1-1) scoreless over the final six innings. She finished with four strike outs and no walks and scattered five hits.

The Lady Dragons scored single runs in the third and fourth innings to tie the game at 2-2 before Anderson's game-winning hit in the seventh.

Cathryn Knight had two hits for Jefferson. Meagan Faulkner, Whitfield, Anderson, Raegen Sandy, and Leah Pryor each had one hit for the Lady Dragons.
