GAINESVILLE - The list of candidates for the November Gainesville city elections continues to grow.
City clerk Denise Jordan says that by early afternoon Tuesday, two more incumbents had turned in their re-election papers: school board member Maria Calkins and city councilwoman and former mayor Myrtle Figueras.
Three incumbents qualified on the opening day of qualifying Monday: Mayor Ruth Bruner, councilman Bob Hamrick and school board member Sammy Smith.
Qualifying for Gainesville city elections closes at 4:30 Wednesday afternoon.
