Tolls to be added soon to HOV lanes on I-85 in DeKalb, Gwinnett

By The Associated Press
ATLANTA - The HOV lane on a stretch of Interstate 85 in Gwinnett and DeKalb counties will become toll lanes in about a month.

The State Road and Tollway Authority says it plans to start charging the toll on either Sept. 24 or Oct. 1, depending on when the system is ready.

The stretch of highway with the express lane runs from Chamblee Tucker Road in DeKalb County up to Old Peachtree Road in Gwinnett County.

Drivers who want to use the lanes will have to register for a transponder, called a Peach Pass.

Solo drivers will be able to use the lane for a fee, and two-person car pools also will have to pay the fee.
