GAINESVILLE - Riverside Drive in Gainesville is a popular spot for runners and walkers, but apparently there's been a suspicious vehicle traveling the area, and that has neighbors on alert.
Gainesville Police said they've increased their patrols in the Riverside Drive area after a couple of residents reported over the weekend that a white man in a white truck had been asking questions of some people who were walking in the area.
Officer Joe Britte said if you are approached, you need to call police.
"Call 911 immediately," Britte said. "Be impolite. Try to get a tag number because whoever this gentleman is, he's apparently become a nuisance in the area."
Britte said the man has not threatened anyone, but is asking suspicious questions of those he stops. Britte said the description of the suspect is not detailed.
"A white male in a white pick-up truck...that is it," said Britte.
He is advising residents not to walk or run alone in the area.
