Volleyball: East Hall continues strong start

RABBITTOWN -- The East Hall girls volleyball team continued its strong start to the season taking two out of three wins Thursday in a quad-match at the East Hall Community Center.

The Lady Vikings got a pair of wins over Lumpkin County and Jackson County but fell to rival Gainesville.

The Lady Vikings (10-5, 2-0 in Region 8AA/A) rallied to beat Jackson County 26-28, 25-22, 25-20 to stay unbeaten in region play before losing to Gainesville 25-20, 25-14 in the second match.

They capped the action with a 25-15, 23-25, 25-19 win over Lumpkin County.

Brittney Cambell had a solid night with 11 aces, 12 kills, 26 assists and 11 digs for East Hall. Kara Hix added nine kills and 34 digs and Emily Hoggard had 13 kills, eight digs and four blocks for the Lady Vikings.

Tarryn Long added seven aces, 23 kills, and 15 digs while Latisha Shelton played well on defense with 24 digs. Sydney Farley had 21 assists and 12 digs, Kaleigh Duckworth had six kills, and Emily Roberts added three kills for East Hall.

The Lady Vikings next will travel to Pinecrest Academy on Tuesday.
