GAINESVILLE -- Jefferson opened Region 8-AA/A play with a pair of volleyball wins Thursday at the Lakeview Academy gym.
The Lady Dragons beat host Lakeview Academy 25-16, 25-14 in the first match and then held off Prince Avenue 25-3, 24-26, 25-13 in the second match.
Cassie Metcalf combined for four aces and seven kills and Amanda Daniel had 11 aces, 2 kills, and 28 assists to lead the Jefferson offense. Taylor Cramsey added 11 kills, four aces, two blocks, and six kills while Eden Starnes, four aces, five kills, and one block for the Lady Dragons.
Sarah Wood had five kills and four assists and Savanna Holland had five aces and 10 kills for Jefferson.
