CHICAGO -- Braves RHP Tommy Hanson has returned to Atlanta to have his right shoulder re-evaluated by team doctors.
Hanson has been on the disabled list since Aug. 7 because of right rotator cuff tendinitis.
Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said Thursday that Hanson ``is frustrated'' and may have tried to return from the injury too quickly.
Hanson threw just nine pitches in a bullpen session Monday and didn't throw a scheduled bullpen Tuesday. Hanson was scratched from a scheduled rehab start at Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.
He is 11-7 with a 3.60 ERA and leads the Braves' staff with 142 strikeouts.
The Braves were finishing a four-game series in Chicago and begin a weekend series in New York against the Mets on Friday.
