CLEVELAND - Dr. Jeffery Wilson, who is currently Assistant Superintendent for instruction with Anderson School District Five in Anderson, South Carolina, has been chosen to take over the White County School System.

The school board announced its decision Thursday night.

Board chairman Kendyl Brock-Hunter said Dr. Wilson is well qualified for the position, adding, "he has a history in curriculum, finance special education, so we felt he was a great fit for us." Wilson was chosen from 32 applicants.

The current superintendent, Dr. Paul Shaw, announced at the end of June that he was stepping down on September 2 to take a position at Piedmont College.

Over the next several weeks, the school board will be developing exact terms of employment and Wilson is expected to be on the job by the end of August.
