Heat, thunderstorms in forecast for much of Ga.

By The Associated Press
ATLANTA - National Weather Service forecasters say potentially strong thunderstorms could move over Georgia as temperatures were expected to remain very high.

Authorities issued a heat advisory which runs through Tuesday evening, and includes much of southern and eastern parts of Georgia including the cities of Americus, Brunswick, Macon, Savannah, Vidalia and Waycross. Forecasters say the hot temperatures combined with high humidity will create heat index readings of at least 112 degrees.

Slightly cooler weather is expected Wednesday, with the forecasted high of 93 degrees in Atlanta. Forecasters say that's four degrees cooler than Tuesday's expected high in the city.
