GAINESVILLE -- Gainesville has joined the growing list of places across the state where school officials are restricting such things as football and softball practice to the cooler parts of the day this week.
Hall County schools did it Wednesday. (See earlier story.) Now, Gainesville is limiting such activities to the early morning hours and after 6 p.m. the rest of the week.
Other school systems in the state have implemented such guidelines because of the oppressive heat this week.
Two football players from Georgia schools died Tuesday after collapsing following practice. (See earlier story.)
