Winder woman's husband now charged with her murder

WINDER - The body of 38-year-old Tonya Faye Lynn of Winder was found in a well off Ethridge Road in Auburn Friday afternoon, and now her husband has been charged with her murder.

Winder Police Detective Chris Cooper said Lynn's husband, 42-year-old James Morris Lynn, Jr., was initially charged with obstruction in connection with his wife's disappearance. Cooper told Fox 5 News that Lynn eventually gave officers enough information to lead to his wife's body.

"Some of the information obtained through the interviews with him did lead us to that position," said Cooper.

Tonay Lynn was reported missing by a relative Wednesday around 12 p.m. after she sent the relative a text message, asking her to take care of her children. Winder Police said Lynn's Chevy Tahoe was then discovered parked at a library not far from her home.

Police also said there was a history of domestic violence in the relationship and that James Lynn has been arrested in May, charged with battery in an attack on his wife.

James Lynn remains in the Barrow County Detention Center awaiting a first court appearance.
