DAHLONEGA - A Lumpkin County woman is in critical condition after a swimming pool accident Tuesday.
Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office spokesman Darren Martin says Debra Roxanne Epperson was on a float in the pool at her home on Georgia Highway 115 about 4:00 when she was apparently overcome by fumes from the chlorine being used to treat the water.
Martin says that apparently caused Epperson to slip into the water.
He says she was "unresponsive" when pulled from the water and was taken to Chestatee Regional Hospital in Dahlonega before being transferred to another hospital.
