Hinesville, Gainesville lead state in job losses

ATLANTA - With Hinesville and Gainesville leading the way, Georgia recorded a net loss of 20,600 jobs between June 2010 and last month.

The change in Hinesville was 1.5 percent (300 jobs lost); in Gainesville, it was 1.4 percent (1,000 jobs).

Athens was one eight metro areas in the state recording job gains during the period. The Classic City added 800 jobs (a 2.5 percent increase).

The top five metro areas in job losses were Hinesville, Gainesville, Valdosta, Atlanta and Augusta. The top five in job gains were Albany, Rome, Brunswick, Athens and Macon.
