Butterworth named to state Senate policy group

By The Associated Press
ATLANTA - The Georgia Senate is setting up a policy group to help craft legislation from ideas collected on its "solutions summit" tour.

Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers says finding the best ideas for the state is a year-long process during which senators will listen to Georgia residents and counterparts in other states to identify the most beneficial policies to pursue.

The policy group will be comprised of Rogers, of Woodstock, and four other Republicans: Jim Butterworth, Cornelia; Bill Hamrick, Carrolton; Josh McKoon, Columbus and Mitch Seabaugh, of Sharpsburg.

The next meeting in the solutions summit tour will be in Columbus at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Georgians are encouraged to meet informally with senators and share positive solutions for Georgia's challenges.
