Buford man killed in early morning wreck

BUFORD - Gwinnett County police said a Buford man was killed Thursday morning just after 2:00 on Buford Drive at I-85, and they think alcohol could be a factor in the deadly crash.

Cpl. Edwin Ritter said Daniel Walker, 29, was driving a blue 2000 Honda Accord, eastbound on the Buford Drive entrance lane to I-85 south.

"He failed to negotiate that curve to 85 southbound, headed straight into a field and struck a tree," said Ritter.

Ritter said Walker was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident and died on scene. Investigators believe that alcohol may be a contributing cause for the accident.
