Braselton man convicted of killing wife

By The Associated Press
LAWRENCEVILLE - A Gwinnett County jury convicted a Braselton man of murder in the stabbing death of his estranged wife in front of their children, and a judge sentenced him to life in prison.

The jury convicted 29-year-old Phillip Chad Dunn on Thursday in the killing of Shelley Dunn at a Walmart in Suwanee on Feb. 14, 2010.

A week before the killing, Dunn pleaded guilty to assault and battery on his wife after choking her. When he got out of jail on bond, he discovered that his wife and daughters had moved out. The children were 6 and 8 years old at the time.

Prosecutors said Dunn confronted his wife at the Walmart after keeping his daughters overnight, stabbed her at least three times and then stabbed himself.
