CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Jared Norris drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning to help Oregon State advance in the NCAA tournament with a 6-4 victory over Georgia on Sunday night.
The top-seeded Beavers (41-17), who won College World Series titles in 2006 and 2007, won three straight at home to advance to play Vanderbilt in the super regionals. The site will be announced Monday.
Third-seeded Georgia (33-32) had to beat Creighton earlier in the day to advance to the nightcap against the Beavers in the double-elimination regional.
Adam Duke (1-0) pitched 1 1-3 innings for the win. Tony Bryant worked the ninth for his 12th save.
"I'm not sure we played as well as we wanted to," Oregon State coach Pat Casey said. "Our guys battled. I'm just happy these guys get the chance to do something some of us have had the opportunity to do."
Eric Swegman (1-2) pitched one inning, allowing one run on two hits in the loss.
"Oregon State had all the answers," Georgia coach David Perno said. "Every time we scored they came right back and answered us. We just couldn't get the tough outs or get the shutout inning. We needed it and we were just short."
The game was delayed for more than 15 minutes in the bottom of the ninth because a bank of lights went out.
Left-hander Josh Osich started for the Beavers. He threw the program's fourth no-hitter on April 30 against UCLA.
But Osich was abruptly pulled after just 27 pitches and replaced by righty Scott Schultz. Speculation was that something was amiss with Osich because his velocity was off. Casey said afterward Osich has been stiff and sore.
"He was having a little trouble doing what he wanted to do," Casey said. "I just know that he didn't look right."
The Bulldogs went up 1-0 in the first inning when Levi Hyams singled and scored on Kyle Farmer's grounder. Oregon State tied it in the top of the second on first baseman Parker Berberet's home run.
Farmer's RBI double in the third put Georgia back in front, but Berberet hit an RBI single and Jake Rodriguez sacrificed to right in the fourth to give the lead to the Beavers for the first time.
Oregon State extended the lead on Brian Stamps' solo home run in the seventh.
Chase Davidson's RBI single narrowed it for Georgia in the bottom half before Farmer's bloop single to right off reliever Matt Boyd scored the tying run.
Norris' sacrifice to center with the bases loaded in the eighth scored Michael Miller with the go-ahead run. Kavin Keyes added and RBI double in the ninth for the Beavers.
"It's always nice to strike back once they score a run and show, `Hey, we're here to play,'" Berberet said.
Oregon State is making its 12th appearance in the postseason, the sixth in the last seven seasons.
The Beavers have gone 18-3 in 21 postseason games at Goss Stadium, including an 11-game winning streak.
Georgia was an at-large pick after finishing fourth in the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference. The Bulldogs, who won the College World Series in 1990, have been to the tournament 10 times, including six postseason appearances under coach David Perno.
Perno led the Bulldogs to the College World Series in 2004, 2006 and the CWS Finals in 2008.
Georgia was struck by tragedy this season when center fielder Johnathan Taylor broke his neck in a collision with a teammate during a March 6 game against Florida State. The Bulldogs all wear a JT 2 decal on their batting helmets in Taylor's honor, and the team keeps a framed photo of him in its dugout during games.
Brandon Stephens' two-out single to right field in the bottom of the 11th inning gave the Bulldogs a 5-4 victory over the second-seeded Bluejays earlier in the day on Sunday.
Fourth-seeded Arkansas-Little Rock, making its first ever trip to the NCAA tournament, was eliminated with a 7-3 loss to Georgia on Saturday.
The winners of the 16 double-elimination regionals move on to the best-of-three super regionals. Those eight winners advance to the College World Series, which begins June 18 at the new TD Ameritrade Park Omaha.
