Flowery Branch apartment damaged by fire

GAINESVILLE - Fire damaged a duplex apartment near Flowery Branch Saturday morning.

Hall County firefighters got the call about 7:30 to the 7500 block of Spout Springs Road.

Chief David Kimbrell said they could see a column of smoke when they left their station and "when firefighters arrived they found a 1200-square-foot apartment/duplex fully involved."

Kimbrell said units made an "initial defensive attack and knocked the majority of the fire down."

He said it appears to have started in the rear of the structure and the fire was called in by a passerby.

No one was home at the time.
