JACKSONVILLE, Ala. -- Former Georgia running back Washaun Ealey and ex-Mississippi linebacker Clarence Jackson have transferred to Jacksonville State following their dismissals from the Southeastern Conference schools.

Gamecocks coach Jack Crowe said Thursday both players have enrolled in classes at the FCS school. They are eligible to play this season and have two years remaining.

"We expect both of them to come in and make an immediate impact on our team," Crowe said.

Ealey led the Bulldogs in rushing the past two seasons, gaining 1,528 yards and 14 touchdowns while starting nine games. He set a school record when he ran for five TDs in a win over Kentucky. Georgia coach Mark Richt granted Ealey his conditional release in May after twice suspending him.

The back was suspended for the 2010 season opener after his arrest for driving with a suspended license and leaving the scene of an accident. He was barred from offseason activities in February after reportedly failing to show up for disciplinary running.

That suspension was lifted after three weeks.

Jackson played in four games as a sophomore for the Rebels, seeing his first action in Jacksonville State's double-overtime upset.

He was listed as a starting linebacker after spring practice but Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt dismissed him from the team after he was charged with public drunkenness in May.

Jackson was also arrested last fall after allegedly stealing a television and other electronic equipment from a building on campus. He played in four games as a true freshman, but was suspended for the rest of the season after the incident.
