SUWANEE - The Suwanee City Council has scheduled a vote on Sunday alcohol sales during the November city elections.

The Georgia General Assembly approved earlier this year a bill that provides local jurisdictions with the authority to submit the question of Sunday package sales of alcoholic beverages (sales by stores) to qualified voters and Gov. Nathan Deal signed the measure three weeks ago.

Since the bill's passage, many cities across the state, and some counties, have begun scheduling referendums .

If approved by voters, packaged alcoholic beverages could be sold in Suwanee by retailers from 12:30-11:30 p.m. on Sundays.

Two city council posts will also be on the ballot in Suwanee.
