InteractiveAngler, Jaycees host successful fishing tournament

The InteractiveAngler.com Charity Bass Tournament benefiting Gainesville Jaycees Gut Check recently took place at Gainesville's Little Hall Park.

The tournament finished its third successive season with a strong showing as 54 boats took part in one of the largest such events of the spring.

The tournament benefits the Jaycees' Gut Check program, a 14-year-old youth leadership initiative that imparts life skills to middle school aged males from Hall County.

First place and a $2,500 prize -- along with an extra $540 for snagging the day's "big fish" -- went to Rick Gasaway and David Millsaps for their haul of 21.02 pounds. Their largest fish weighed in at 6.19 pounds.

John Peters and Randy Dover claimed second place and a $1,250 prize for catching 19.16 pounds, while Kevin Stowers and Rick Steckelburg finished third overall ($625) for their haul of 18.03 pounds.

Also placing were Jim Gooch and Greg Keith (fourth, 17.79 pounds, $400), Eddie Ramey and Stephen Walls (fifth, 17.02 pounds, $250) and Steven Dockery and Nick Tinsley (sixth, 16.52 pounds, free entry for next year's tournament).
