GAINESVILLE - Dunwoody eliminated Flowery Branch Friday in the opening round of high school baseball playoffs and North Hall will play a deciding game in its series with LaGrange Saturday.
North Hall split the first two games of its Class AAA first round matchup with LaGrange Friday. The Trojans pounded the Grangers 10-0 in Game 1 but fell 8-3 in Game 2.
The two teams' will meet at 2 p.m. Saturday in LaGrange for a deciding Game 3.
Chris Stevens produced one his best games of the season with a three-hit shutout in Game 1. In Game 2, the game was tied at 1-1 in the fourth before LaGrange used a four-run fifth inning to blow the game open.
For Flowery Branch, the Falcons lost 8-7 in Game 1 in nine innings after letting two one-run leads slip away in the late innings. Dunwoody completed the two-game sweep in the first round of the Class AAAA playoffs with a 3-0 victory in Game 2.
Brody Thomas had a huge day for the Falcons with six hits in the two games. Jesse Brookshire had five hits in Game 1.
Flowery Branch, which came in as the No. 3 seed from 8-AAAA, finished the season at 17-7.
