CUMMING - A Forsyth County man has been charged with aggravated battery after his 3-week-old daughter was treated at an Atlanta hospital.
Officials with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said the daughter of 36-year-old Jeffrey Andrew Silver was first seen by a local pediatrician who then sent the child to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite on Wednesday for further examination.
Authorities said investigators were contacted by Scottish Rite physicians who discovered injuries consistent with abuse.
They said Silver is being held at the Forsyth County Detention Center.
Forsyth County Sheriff's Office personnel said the baby remains hospitalized with significant, but non-life threatening injuries.
They said the child's mother is not facing any charges but another child in the home, a two-year-old girl, has been taken into protective custody.
The Department of Family and Children's Services (DEFACS) is also investigating.
