1st-time jobless insurance claims down

ATLANTA - First-time unemployment insurance claims in Georgia in March were down more than 9 percent compared to a year ago.

Six of the counties AccessNorthGa.com tracks each month recorded double-digit declines, led by Habersham at 36.2 percent.

The others were Banks (18.9%), Dawson (18.9%), Forsyth (12.3%), Gwinnett (10.1%), Jackson (11.2%) and Lumpkin (11,1%).

First-time jobless insurance claims in metro Hall County were down 8.5 percent; Barrow by 4.7%, and White (six percent).
