Baseball: Dragons burn Jackson County

JEFFERSON -- Jefferson tuned up for the upcoming Region 8-AA tournament with a 19-1 thumping of Jackson County in five innings Friday.

Max Ford earned the win for the Dragons allowing one run on four hits.

Kevin Ross and Andrew Bartek had three hits apiece and combined for four RBI to lead Jefferson offense. Ford also drove in four runs on a pair of hits. Drew Carson, also had two hits and Jesse Tallent and Austin Thompson had one hit each for the Dragons.

Jefferson scored two runs in the secons to take the lead and added five in the third and four in the fourth to blow the game open. Jackson County scored its run in the third on a RBI by Trey Sorrells.

the Dragons put the game away with eight runs in the fifth.

Jefferson (9-11) is off until the first round of the Region 8-AA tournament next Friday. The Dragons will open on the road at undefeated Fannin County.
