ATLANTA - The federal appeals court in Atlanta has upheld the 8-year prison sentence given to a former Forsyth County sheriff's deputy who was convicted of child pornography charges.
The decision on Wednesday by the three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals comes after Milton Scott Pruitt claimed the sentence should be overturned because he didn't knowingly receive child pornography and that he never saved the images on his computer's hard drive.
Prosecutors say Pruitt used his work computer in 2007 to view the images remotely, and that more than 200 images were found on his hard drive. He told investigators he viewed the images out of curiosity and "stupidity" but said he never saved them.
The court concluded that evidence showed he clearly sought out the illegal photos.
