Swastika, Star of David left on sidewalk

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
GAINESVILLE - A Nazi swastika and a Star of David were left by vandals on a Dyer Street sidewalk recently and Gainesville police are hoping you can help them locate the culprits.

Spokesman Kevin Holbrook says the vandalism was discovered Saturday "by a resident of Dyer Street."

Holbrook said the swastika had been carved into freshly-poured concrete and the Star of David spray-painted onto the concrete "with orange spray paint." He says it appears that the swastika was left first and that the same culprits or a different set of vandals, spray-painted the Star of David later.

The area in question is in the 600 block of Dyer Street.

Holbrook said police are looking for anyone who saw any suspicious persons or activity in that area last Friday or Saturday.
