GAINESVILLE-The Riverside Military Academy (RMA) Drill Team competed in the state drill meet at Fort Gordon, Georgia in March 2011. The RMA Drill Team, or Fusiliers, participated in competitive programs to demonstrate precision drill and ceremony skills.
The Fusiliers competed against the top 24 JROTC programs in the state and took first place overall in squad exhibition. The group was evaluated on the following movements: Originality, Difficulty, Precision, Variety, Appearance & Bearing, Field Coverage, and Showmanship.
The RMA Drill Team is comprised of the following cadets: Joseph DuBois, Austin Humphrey, Alexander Johnson, Alec Navin, Andrew Olson, Samuel Restifo, Blake Rizk, Robinson Whitaker, and Justin Yesner. The head coach is 1SG Phillip Gaines, and the assistant coach is 1SG Andy Williams.
Cadet Major (MAJ) Andrew M. Olson from Gainesville, Georgia, is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Richard Olson. He is a senior and serves as the Company Commander and RMA Honor Council representative for Golf Company.
C/MAJ Olson is a member of the RMA Horton Society and the National Honor Society. He also participates as a member of the RMA Raider Team.
Riverside Military Academy, founded in 1907, is one of the premier college preparatory academies for young men in grades 7-12. The RMA Corps of Cadets consists of over 350 students from 15 countries.
