GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA -- North Hall senior Cody Barger continues to make a name for himself on the regional track-and-field scene.
Barger set a new personal-best time of 9:10.97 in the 3200-meter run at the Pepsi Florida Relays held at Percy Beard Track at the University of Florida. Barger's run was good enough to take first place in a field of nearly 100 runners from across the nation.
Barger beat Ryan Pickering, the top runner in Florida out John I. Leon High School in south Florida, by nearly four minutes (9:14.37). Griffin Jaworski out of Trinity Prep in Winter Haven, Fla., was third with a time of 9:23.34.
Barger is also the reigning Class AAA state cross country champion.
