Soccer: Big second half carries Lady Knights

OAKWOOD -- Johnson scored five unanswered goals in the second half to beat Walnut Grove 7-1 Thursday in Region 8-AAA girls soccer action.

The Lady Knights led 2-1 at halftime on goals from Karolina Guzman and Bethany Johnson. Walnut grove had tied the game at 1 before Bethany Johnson gave the Lady Knights the lead with just over four minutes left in the first half.

Johnson blew the game open in the second half. The Lady Knights scored four times in the first 21 minutes of the second half. Kalyn Dumanowsky scored twice then Emily Byers notched a goal for a 5-1 lead. Kayla Madsen scored on a direct shot off a corner and then Crystal Aguilar finished the scoring with less than four minutes left in the game.
