Baseball: No. 3 Buford pounds Central Gwinnett

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Class AA No. 3 Buford is making it look easy right now.

The Wolves pounded Class AAAAA Central Gwinnett 9-1 Thursday behind Sam Clay, who had 10 strikeouts on the mound and a double at the plate.

Troy Herterick had a big day with the bat with a double and home run. Buford has scored 27 run in the past two days.

Buford (7-1) jumped out to an early 8-0 lead and never looked back. Josh Heddinger went 2-for-2 with two RBIs for Buford, which visits Avondale at 5 p.m. Friday.
