JEFFERSON -- Chestatee overcame a quick start by Jackson County to rally for a 5-3 win Thursday in girls soccer action.
The Lady War Eagles (5-3) trailed 1-0 just two minutes into the game when Jackson County's Katie Phillips broke through the Chestatee defense for a breakaway goal.
Chestatee's Kelsey Neukum countered 10 minutes later shooting a hard shot into the upper left corner. Lauren Wassel gave Chestatee the lead for good three minutes later.
Alexis Rebollar gave Chestatee a 3-1 lead 20 minutes later but the Lady Panthers closed the gap to 3-2 on Phillips' second goal of the half with just over one minute left in the first half.
Neukum would strike for her second goal of the game less than five minutes into the second half and melanie Smith sealed the win for Chestatee with a penalty kick goal with 19 minutes left in the game.
Phillips set up Maddie Newton for the Lady Panthers' final goal seven minutes later to cap the scoring.
Vanessa Chavez recorded six saves to get the win in goal for Chestatee.
Liliana Villa had eight saves for Jackson County in the loss.
