Red Cross mobilizing to send aid to Japan

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
ATLANTA - The Red Cross and other organizations are already beginning to mobilize to provide support and aid to Japan following today's earthquake and tsunami.

Spokesman Ruben Brown says the Metro Atlanta chapter will be offering its support.

Brown says if you would like to make a donation, check the Red Cross website - redcross.org - for details on how to do so, adding it's still early in the mobilization process and the Red Cross is now on standby.

Brown also says the agency can help people get in touch with friends or relatives in Japan.

"If people have relatives in Japan in the earthquake zone they can go to redcross.org," he said.

There, you can click on the "Safe and Well" page to check on family members in Japan. "Family members in Japan may have been able to post messages telling others about their situation - safe and well - that they are safe, and out of harms' way."
