CARROLLTON -- North Hall rallied from an early deficit, took a nine-point lead in the second half, but could not hold on before falling to Carrollton 62-57 in overtime Friday night in the first round of the Class AAA playoffs.
The Lady Trojans got a huge game from McKenna Rushton, who poured in 27 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. But they couldn't find much other offense against the No. 2 seed from Region 6-AAA.
North Hall coach Kristi House said she was disappointed and proud at the same time.
"Well, we're disappointed because we lost, especially after playing so well for most of the game," she said. "But, the girls left it all out on the court. They showed a lot of heart. I'm proud of their effort for sure."
North Hall trailed by nine points in the first half but managed to tie the game at 28 by halftime. The Lady Trojans came out firing behind Rushton in the third quarter to take a nine point lead.
But Carrollton staged a fourth quarter rally to tie the game at 51 at the end of regulation. North Hall managed just one field goal and four free throws in overtime as three starters fouled out.
Mary Kate Rushton and Sarah Paschall each had eight points for the Lady Trojans.
