Storms leave behind some downed trees

By The Associated Press
UNDATED - Some damage has been reported as a result of the strong thunderstorms that moved across parts of north Georgia during the night and the National Weather Service is warning of high winds as the rain moves out.

A severe thunderstorm storm watch was issued for north Georgia early Friday morning but expired at 5:00. Some areas were also under a severe thunderstorm warning - including Gainesville and surrounding areas - for a time.

There were some downed trees in northeast Georgia but no injuries have been reported as a result of the storms.

As the rain moved out of north Georgia and to the southeast, the weather service issued a wind advisory for most of the state for gusts up to 35 miles-an-hour until late Friday afternoon.
