Commission poised to dismiss complaint against Cagle

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
ATLANTA - By this time next week, Lt. Governor Casey Cagle could be out from under the cloud of an ethics complaint filed against him last October just days before the November's elections.

The complaint alleged Cagle had an affair with a female staff member and gave her money to cover it up. (See earlier stories.) But, a state commission is poised to dismiss the complaint next Tuesday.

A spokesman for Cagle, Ben Fry, noted Thursday morning that "from the beginning, we have said that this complaint was completely false and absolutely absurd and we stand by that statement."

The Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission will consider dismissing the complaint when it meets on Tuesday at 11:00 in Atlanta.
