MT. AIRY -- Flowery Branch's season came to an end Tuesday night with a tough 39-36 loss to Salem in the first round of the Region 8-AAAA Tournament at the Habersham Central gym.
The Falcons (9-16) were in position to pull off the upset leading the Seminoles 23-14 at halftime.
But Salem used a 14-4 third quarter to grab the lead and then hung on in the fourth quarter.

Dedrick Turner paced Salem with 12 points. The Seminoles next will face 8A-AAAA No. 1 seed Madison County on Thursday in the second round at Winder-Barrow.
