John Jarrard Spring Concert set for April 16

GAINESVILLE - The John Jarrard Foundation is continuing to expand its annual series of concerts with the first-ever John Jarrard Spring Concert planned for April 16 in Dahlonega.

The concert, which will be held at the Cottrell Circle C Ranch Barn, will feature singer-songwriters Alex Harvey, Tony Arata, and Greg Barnhill with others to be added to the line-up. The concert starts at 6 p.m.

"We've wanted to add a spring concert to go along with our very successful fall show in Gainesville. This September will be our 10th annual Bruce Burch and Friends Honoring John Jarrard Concert," Jarrard Foundation Executive Director Jody Jackson said. "The Cottrell Circle C Ranch Barn is an amazing venue and we have a very talented group of singer-songwriters joining us from Nashville. Alex and Tony have both played in previous Jarrard concerts."

Harvey is best known for the country and pop hit, "Delta Dawn," recorded by Tanya Tucker and Helen Reddy. Alex had songs recorded by Kenny Rogers, T. Graham Brown, and Billy Ray Cyrus.

Arata wrote former ACM's song of the year, "The Dance," by Garth Brooks. His other No. 1 records include "Here I am" (Patty Loveless), "I'm Holding My Own" (Lee Roy Parnell), and "Dreaming With My Eyes Open" (Clay Walker).

Barnhill wrote "House of Love" for Amy Grant, "Walk Away Joe" for Trisha Yearwood and Don Henley, and several other great songs for Tim McGraw, Vince Gill, Martina McBride, Etta James, Pam Tillis and Jessica Simpson. He has also performed with Kim Carnes, Michael McDonald, and The Neville Brothers.

The John Jarrard Foundation was formed in 2001 to honor John Jarrard, a Gainesville native and Nashville songwriter who wrote songs for performers such as Don Williams, Alabama, George Strait, and Diamond Rio. Jarrard battled diabetes before passing away in 2001. The Spring Concert benefits the Jarrard Foundation and the Enotah Anti-Drug Coalition/White County Meth Task Force.
