UNDATED - Monday is the deadline to register to vote in special elections and referendums that will be held around Georgia March 15.
It will also mark the beginning of early voting for the special county commission chairman election in Gwinnett County. Voters will be asked to fill the vacancy left last year when embattled chairman Charles Bannister resigned.
In addition the renewal of an education SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) referendum in Hall County (where early voting began last Wednesday at the elections office on Browns Bridge Road), there will be an education SPLOST referendum in Forsyth County, as well.
Elsewhere in northeast Georgia, SPLOST referendums will be held Mar. 15 in Madison, Barrow and Jackson counties. Voters in Madison and Jackson will be deciding the fate of an extension of an education SPLOST, while in Barrow County, the issue is renewal of a SPLOST for infrastructure improvements among other things.
