ATLANTA - East Hall and Flowery Branch are among a select group of high schools across Georgia named 2011 AP (Advance Placement) Honor Schools by the Georgia Department of Education Wednesday.
Students' performance on these exams can earn them credit for college level course work at their college or university of chosen enrollment.
The Forsyth County School System placed four high schools on the list:: Forsyth Central, Lambert, South Forsyth and West Forsyth. Elsewhere in northeast Georgia, Buford and Rabun County high schools as Apalachee High School in Winder were recognized.
Georgia ranked eleventh in the country in the number of schools receiving AP honors.
"Our students must have rigorous coursework in high school to be successful after they graduate," said State School Superintendent Dr. John Barge. "I am so pleased that more of our students than ever are taking AP courses and passing the exam."
