Regions plans new downtown branch bank

GAINESVILLE - Another new bank branch is slated for downtown Gainesville, less than a month after the opening of the latest one.

Regions plans to build on E.E. Butler Parkway near Washington Street on the site formerly occupied by Gainesville Municipal Court. The site is just down the street from the Independence Bank branch which opened at Butler and Green the first of the month.

Gainesville Planning Director Rusty Ligon confirmed plans for the site Wednesday morning and said work is expected to begin next month.

Regions has had a stand-alone ATM about a half-block from the property for many years.
