HOSCHTON - An early morning fire Tuesday damaged a 100-year-old house in Hoschton.
The call came in about 2:40 with units from the West Jackson, Jackson Trail, and the Jackson County Correctional Institute fire departments responding.
The fire was at 19 Indian Creek Loop.
"Upon arrival of the first units, they found smoke showing from a single-family residence," according to Steve Nichols with Jackson County EMS. "The fire was contained to the area and room of origin. The residence was a 100-year-old structure and extensive overhaul work had to be done to find all of the hidden fire in the walls and floor area."
The state Fire Marshal's Office was asked to help in determining the cause and origin of the fire but Nichols said at this time it is listed as "accidental."
He added there were no injuries and the building suffered moderate damage. Fire crews were on the scene almost six hours.
