BLAIRSVILLE -- Union County moved into second place in Region 8A-AA after beating Rabun County 52-39 at home Saturday night.
The Panthers (19-2, 6-2 in subregion) were tied with the Wildcats (15-8, 5-3) coming into the game but got 12 points from Seth Merritt and 10 from Zach Odom in the win.
Union County can secure the second seed in the subregion with a win Tuesday at Dawson County combined with a Rabun County loss to East Hall. The Panthers close out the regular season on Friday at East Hall, which is undefeated in subregion play.
