OAKWOOD -- Austin Thompson hit two free throws with 2.5 seconds left to preserve a thrilling 73-70 win for Jefferson over Johnson Tuesday night at the Johnson gym.
The Dragons (9-11) led 36-28 at halftime and increased their lead to 60-51 heading into the fourth quarter.
But Johnson (9-12) was able to cut to 71-70 in the final minute but could get no closer. The Knights missed a tying shot at the buzzer.
Jefferson was paced by David Watson's 29 points. Johnson, whihc has now lost six straight, was led by Matt Hollis with 26 points, 21 coming in the second half, and Ty Odem with 21 points.
The Knights travel to Lanier on Friday.
